What Happens During the Procedure?
The surgical procedure involves an incision around the belly button, and another incision just above the pubic area from one hip to the other. This allows us to focus on removing any surplus skin and fat. We normally make the incision low enough that you can conceal it easily with underwear or swimwear.
A tummy tuck can be a fairly extensive procedure and is performed under a general anaesthetic. As a result, you will normally need to stay with us for around 1-2 days.
How Long Does the Healing Process Take after A Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck can give almost instant and very dramatic results. Recovery times depend on the individual, and we assess each case individually so that we can deliver the right aftercare. Any pain or discomfort following the procedure can be controlled with medication, and you must refrain from any strenuous activity or lifting. Most patients are back to work or their normal daily routine within 4 weeks. However, this will depend on your nature of work, and again we will give you advice tailored to your needs.
