Ultrasound imaging is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat a range of medical conditions.
Ultrasound examination does not use radiation (as in X-rays) and is used to show the structure and movement of the body's internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels.

Kingsbridge Private Hospital routinely performs the most common examinations including:
- General abdominal/pelvic (tummy)
- Musculoskeletal
- Colour Doppler scanning (shows blood flow)
- Breast imaging
- Peripheral vascular regions such as leg and neck arteries
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening
Most ultrasound examinations are quick and painless however you may be required to fast or attend with a full bladder.
Please inform us if you have had a barium enema or upper GI (gastrointestinal) tests within the past two days as these can interfere with the ultrasound test.
A medical referral is required. Please allow 20 minutes for your appointment and results will be issued to the referral source within 48hrs of the scan.
If you would like to book an appointment or require further information on the available options, please do not hesitate to contact our private patient booking team via our online enquiry form.
